4052 is reportedly back in leader status and aimed to lead SU-99 out of Jersey tonight.

4052 lead 4050 and 3634. Train left at 5pm and was in Franklin,Nj within an hour with 59 cars. Just watched a video.

Kudos to Kingfish and his men for getting these beasts up and running and leading again! Now get to work with 3636!!! lol

King, any idea on why the 70m's haven't lead since that 1 time? If they are facing west on the 100, they spin the lead loco and put it in front of the 70m's. Do the crews not like them?

I believe there were FRA compliance issues as well as some mechanical issues.

Two of them didn't have radios in them when they were brought back.

and from what I understand most of those issues with the cab interior have been fixed as they have lead since beeing back. But everytime a 70m was the trailing unit facing west on a SU-100 and would've led that nights 99, they would take the lead unit from the 100 and spin it on the turntable and put it as the leader for the 99.

Noticed today that two SD70's, (4054 is one), are parked OOS on under the Route 363 bridge. No idea where the other unit is. They haven't been used in several weeks from the best I can tell.

Checked this morning and all three SD70M's were parked in Binghamton by the shops.

I have seen them by the Bing. shop. Now they are over tied up with the oos ex TPW GP20s.

Amongst the talk in the CEFX SD60 thread there's mention of rebuilding the 70's as well. 8 SD60s would replace the current leasers and the 70M's, anyone see these locos moving around lately? Truth?

Word is the SD70s are heading to Norfolk Southern. Frankly, I don't know why this didn't happen sooner.
