Well the night started out good as we were looking for Q271 and caught it on the edge of West Milford and New Foundland. We were able to turn around and just our luck we had a green light on to Rt. 23 so our chase began. We paced the engines on Rt 23 in West Milford where the tracks are elevated over the roadway and wow what a site. Those four engines haulin along side of us was a great site.
The first spot we stopped to see it at was Victorias Inn in Hardyston. It was nice when it passed there because he was moving at a good clip and it looked beautiful.

The next and final spot for this train was at Beaver Lake where the train slowed down some and that was evident by the smell of burning brakes.

The second chase was of the eastbound double stack train with two Union Pacific C40-8's on it. There was a close call here as just before the train came a group of teenagers went walking down the tracks. After we yelled at them to get off the tracks they did and the train blasted through.

After seeing it at ZINC i thought that was it for me as i had ice hockey practice in Hardyston. I went to practice stepped outside afterwards and was greeted to the sound of the eastbound blasting its horn for a crossing. So we got into the car and went down Rt 23 a little bit to catch it again. This shot was done using the hood of my brothers car as the tripod.

The day after i was down at Garret Mountain above Paterson for a cross country meet. It was here where i saw a northbound NJT train pass a daylight Norfolk Southern local. The next shots are from Garret Mountain.
