The NYA has a rather informative entry in the Wikipedia on-line encyclopedia. Info on the cargo carried, locomotive roster, team track locations, etc. is there for all to see. Good to see you can find info on NYA elsewhere on the 'Net.

Of course, be careful what you read on Wikipedia - since it can be edited by anyone, there is a small percentage of what we call "vandalism." I guess that could go for anything on the internet, but Wikipedia is most affected.

The coffee table book, 'The Works' by Kate Ascher, has some background info on NY&A, along with definitions of railroad terminology used in shortline/waterfront operations.

From what I've seen, there hasn't been any vandalism on the NYA Wikipedia entry. It all looks like it's on the up and up. Quite informative, but it can be expanded on by those who are "in the know."

"The Works: Anatomy of a City" is an excellent book with lots of rail and transit content. A great review of how stuff works in New York City. Expert illustrations, too.
