A broad question I realize, but after checking around on Mr Goldstein's Industrial & Offline Terminal Railroad site, I realized I couldn't find a table or list of Car Floats at any given date (say, 1940 for example). List of float bridges, locos, terminals yes, but car-floats?
Anyone know the counts, or where such a list would be for NY harbor car-floats (any date(s) post WWI, and pre-1965 when NY harbor car floating really began taking a dive). Even better, any idea of the average ratio between regular car floats and station floats (car floats with a loading dock running along the middle, designed not to have the cars unloaded at the destination station, but instead to be moored to a pier/bulkhead station so the freight cars would be unloaded/loaded while they remained on the float).
