As I understadn, the csx (or conrail shared assets???) chester branch
is an old reading branch that is parallel to the NEC and east of it, going
from north of the Philadelphia aiport down to Marcus Hook.
On the southern end by Marcus Hook it is clear from aerial photos
(e.g. maps.google.com) that the line ties into the NEC.
My question is on the north end. It is clear that there is
a connection to the NEC north of the airport by a new curve to the
left to get on former PRR tracks and then a flyover to the NEC
What I'm not so sure, is if there is also a connection still if you go
straight north instead of bending left, staying on Reading ROW,
and then connecting to the B&O (now CSX) Philadelphia
freight subdivision.
From aerial photos it looks like this section might be abandoned, not sure.
Any one know the details?? THanks JS
