I worked G tower in Belvidere, NJ, from 1960 to 1964. When the L&NE closed around 1963, one of their dispatchers, Norman Bonney, came to us as a relief operator. One time he told me how the men on the L&NE had put themselves out of work. He was pro union, but told me how when the Lehigh Valley had offered the L&NE some freight moves to go directly across to Maybrook, (I guess,) the crews had demanded a circuitous route, so three crews could move the trains. That killed the LV's offer.
