I didn't see "wheel slip" in the quote. Anyway, wheel slip would be a design problem rather than a product of deferred main-ten-ance. I understand the GP40's were slippery, also.

I did see #4610 (in Southern colors) this morning. It was on a siding with 2 box cars, near the Brook Park Ford Plant in Cleveland, Ohio (near the Airport, along Ohio Rt. 237). Quite interesting locomotive!

I saw it head west thru Berea on Monday Aug. 21 on train #133 (Rockport-Doraville, Georgia.

It put on a spectacular smoke show as it passed. Very cool unit.
