Hi,

John Fryar, webmaster @ nkpths.org, has made some serious improvements in the Society's Surviving Cabooses listings. Check it out at: http://www.nkphts.org/preservation/caboose.html .

There are still some questions so your help on the listings will be appreciated!

Cheers, Roger

Howdy,

The NKP 400, the lone member of the Class C5, was built by the NKP Ironville (OH) Shops in July 1952. It went to the N&W in the 1964 merger and was renumbered to NW 557500 in 1966.

It is reported as donated to the Ohio Central Railroad, Sugarcreek (1 word), OH, in 1991 and is now IDed as, sadly, SOU X557 on display in Auburn, GA: http://groups.msn.com/larryscaboosepict ... otoID=1795 .

Howdy,

The NKP 401 to 425 Class C6 cabooses were built by the NKP Ironville (OH) Shops in 1955 & 1956. They went to the N&W in the 1964 merger and were renumbered to NW 557501 to 557525 between 1965 & 1967.

There are questions about the curent status of several Class C6 cabooses:

401 - Meredosia, IL, reported as "to become a B&B". Did this happen?

404 - Exmore, VA, as ESHR 20, need an address/location.

413 - Kermit, WV, reported as "sold to Louisville Metals". Was it scrapped?

420 - Ladson, SC, for sale. Did this one sell & move? If so, to where?

422 - Johnson City, TN, reported as "gone". If so, to where?

4?? - C6?, Bowling Green, VA, Caroline Co. Park, for sale. Sold/gone to?

Howdy,

The NKP 451 to 500, Class C7, cabooses were built International Car, Kenton, OH in 1962. They went to the N&W in the 1964 merger and were renumbered to NW 557551 to 557600 in 1965, 1967, & 1968.

There are questions about the current status of several Class C7 cabooses:

452 - reported at Hubbleston Elementary School, Reston, VA. True?

454 - Dennison, OH. Is this NKP 480 painted up as 454?

457 - stored on TLE&W, Waterville, OH, in 1998-1999. Where is it now?

469 - is this the caboose at VTM, Roanoke, VA, painted as 470?

491 - reportedly went to Greenville, PA. Now at Montcalm, WV?

4?? - C7?, Bowling Green, VA, Caroline Co. Park. Sold? Photo?
