The Ft Wayne Historical Society is just about ready to put the 765 back on its own wheels again. Word is that Timken rebuilt the lead truck bearings "at cost" even though they no longer manufacture them. For those keeping track, over $800,000 has been spent on this project so far. It will be nice to see the 765 roll out hopefully next year sometime.

Rumors have it that 765 will be completed by May of 2005. Kudos to the Ft Wayne Historical Society! They have thus far exceeded $1,000,000 in cost to restore 765. Sure will be nice to see her roll again soon.

I believe they brought it up under steam within the last month (pictures on the www.765.org website) and plan on having an official 'rollout' at the end of October.

Edit: Correction, they had pics of the steam-up on their website. They changed it as of today, now they are advertising the Rollout and open house for Oct. 29 and 30
