would be nice to hear the sound of a chugging GE again. Used to see the U34CH's alot when my mother and I would pick up my dad at wood-ridge in the late 80's and early 90's.

No, but according to people on this forum they have been among the most reliable equipment NJT has lately. :P

The PL42's are currently the most reliable locomotive that NJT operates. That doesn't mean they never break down and that everyone has to like working with them.

Hmm. Do you?

I conduct them. They have died on me plenty of times.
so your just like a passenger as far as operating experience ;-)
And yes I did operate them, not on NJT anyway.

And how did you find them?

I was impressed by layout of cab, and input the BLE had on them, I only operated them at low speeds 40 mph near Hornell NY.
Any locomotive takes a year or two to get bugs out of systems.
This locomotive derived of theEuropean Prima locomotive, had so many Amerika upgrades to its European system it was no wonder it took a bit longer.
