And here I thought that with the success of the NS steam program, NS had decided to start running mixed trains....

No. They wouldn't want to waste time picking up passengers. Also, they'd have to give their conductors uniforms.

True but maybe they expect passengers to jump on a moving train. Hey, maybe they added them for the safety and convenience of the hobos.

You could get off a plane at Newark Airport, take a hop skip and jump to Oak Island; ask the yard master what track your train is on, and ride it to Buffalo in a multilevel, or where ever they go these days.

The Center Street Branch in Harrison. They are interchanged between Conrail and NJT. Conrail places them on NS 19G out of Oak Island, and off they go
