I was very excited to attend this last weekend’s car show at the RMNE, and take a ride on the Naugy. What’s better than a train ride? A train ride with Classic Cars!

The show kicked off at 12, but we were there early. I’m not an official volunteer, but I am a member and do like to pitch in where I can. Some cars had already arrived, and the train was at the platform ready to do it’s first run at 11.

The top left is Naugatuck Railroad power; to the right is a Roadrunner! I had a 68 Dodge Coronet 440 in 1979 that couldn’t hold a shadow to this Plymouth!

The Naugy, if you’re not familiar, runs along the Naugatuck River from Torrington, CT to Waterbury. They have different excursions they run from the months of May to December. The excursion we took was a fall colors excursion from Thomaston Station to Fascia’s Chocolates and back. We road in a baggage car, which had once served as a troop carrier during World War II. By volunteering, you can avoid riding in “steerage” lol.

Here are some more of the Classic Cars that came out:

Afterwards, we went for lunch at one of the many local restaurants in the area. We went to Crabby Al’s, which is walking distance from Thomaston Station.

They have plenty of seafood. We had little neck clams and popcorn shrimp.

Don’t forget to come out and ride on of the popular excursions through the Holiday season:
