With new transit funding from the Infrastructure Act, here are a few sorely need expansions.

The most sorely needed expansion is a line from Rockland County to Stamford. Anyone who travels 287 daily knows the soul-crushing traffic they encounter over the Tappan Zee Bridge. I have seen it back up all the way to the Hutchinson River Parkway. There’s simply no excuse that Randy Andy Cuomo did not have this built.

It would run from Suffern to Stamford, connecting at Rye. The line would use the Suffern Industrial Track before turning onto 87, with a line diverging at 287 connecting with the Hudson line in the Bronx.

Next up: a line connecting Danbury to the Harlem Line. Again, if you’ve ever been on 84 trying to get to 684, it can be brutal. Most traffic from Danbury is headed to White Plains. Right now, if you’re taking the train, you have to travel all the way to the Southeast Station, pay $100’s for parking monthly, and trek a long way to the platforms. You could also extend this line to New Milford. A station on Route 6 would provide ample parking.

Finally, a line from Monroe CT into Waterbury would take many drivers off the road, providing a direct connection to New Haven, South Norwalk, and Stamford.
