Newburgh, NY aka Beacon West Ferry Service

NEW YORK – The Metro-North Committee of the MTA approved a new memorandum of understanding between the railroad and the City of Newburgh to reimburse the city over $21,000 a month to lease the parking lot for commuters accessing the Beacon train station by crossing the Hudson River by ferry.

Mayor Torrance Harvey was glad to hear of the agreement approved on Monday.

“We are happy about Metro-North and their partnership with this community because anything we can do to enhance transportation is going to do great things for the City of Newburgh,” Harvey said.

The State Department of Transportation had provided the reimbursements to the city for the use of the privately owned parking lot from August 2004 when service began through April 2015. From that point on Metro-North has been reimbursing Newburgh for the 250-space parking lot.
