Describes a journey acroos the alps , apparently for a $ 3 whitebait fritter . Whitebait is a tiny fish , usually eaten whole in fritters , (they're a bugger to fillet !), which is a regonial delicacy in NZ . People spend hours fishing(netting?) for them .
