They don't have rail service now, and haven't for decades.

early rumblings is that they are planning/already building tracks for freight cars to transport the debris from the razing of Widett circle. just rumblings we'll wait and see

There's really not much there for demolition.

I was able to get a glimpse of the boxcars from the frontage road of whatever. The doors are open on both and there's some big yellow machine attached to the end, a track mobile maybe? Wonder what's going on.

It's cool seeing tracks reactivated in Widett Circle that haven't been used in decades.

Also note the switch panel assembly work that I am guessing was brought over from the old Convention Center Yard in Southie which is now vacant.

Also interesting seeing an Avelia train set in the Amtrak facility:

Rode through the loop today, I would say 75 percent of the facility is now all rail related development. Lots of rails, ties, track panels and MOW equipment.

Middlesex Corp is using Widett Circle to assemble the turnouts and associated track structure for the Tower 1 replacement project. The ballast staging area is on the East end of the lot near LOOP interlocking adjacent to the Loop tracks
