Union Tank Car Co. has announced plans to construct a plant in Alexandria, LA. The news did not mention manufacturing capacities, but it will employ 800 people and will be located at the former England Air Force Base. KCS and UP intersect in Alexandria--KCS from Shreveport and UP from Monroe. Alexandria is located in the center of the state; "Cenla", they like to call it. Story on website: www.utlx.com

Finally, A business to invest in LA. The economy of LA is just deplorable, this tank car factory and the jobs it creates is good news for all the people of LA. Sorry Texas but Louisiana got this one. Hopefully, the governor who got Union to come here won’t run it off with High corporate taxes down the way.
