CSS might just patch the roadname in the red band on the long hood to save $$$$ on a repaint :wink:

Wiki says that nine of the SD38-2 engines were built for Reserve Mining (as 1237-1345). They passed to GATX (same numbers) then LLPX (2801-2809). Eight of the nine went to Iowa Interstate (IAIS) with 2808 remaining at LLPX and the others being renumbered 150-157.

Here is 154 on an Iowa Interstate fan site -
http://www.iaisrailfans.org/info/IAIS154" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This particular engine was RSMX 1239 then GATX 1239 then LLPX 2803 then IAIS 154. Sent to CSS on January 21st, 2015.
IAIS 155 (RSMX 1240 then GATX 1240 then LLPX 2804) is also listed as sent to CSS.

Are these replacing the current GATX leased engines?

you know you could save fuel if they run under wire...
I believe that idea should be panned. :)

(I do want to see dual power engines for West Lake ... but I don't see the freight line using overhead.)

Heck, just electrify the entire Stillwell branch while you're at it and run commuter service to La Porte. :wink:

One wonders how hard it would be to convert a standard diesel-electric to 1.5 kvdc overhead. Not that I think South Shore will or should, but... it would be cool to see.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Rumor is that the 6 Axle power is going to South to Indiana and Louisville for trade for some of their Geeps.

Don't know time line
