This extensive history of the Morristown & Erie Railroad covers the railroad's earliest years, from its formation as the Whippany River Railroad through the steam era until the purchase of the railroad's first diesel and the end of steam. With access to the substantial historic document and photo collections of the Morristown & Erie Railway, the Whippany Railway Museum, and several collectors and individuals, author and M&E employee Rudy Garbely presents entirely new information about the earliest years of the railroad's existence. The text is supplemented with over 200 black & white and a handful of color photographs (mostly unpublished) and appendixes that include M&E carloading information and a complete M&E equipment roster.
