The New Haven RS-11 was taken off passenger service because of water leaking into the fuel tank and was assigned to freight service.
Was the problem ever fixed so they could return to passenger service ?

The first 30 FL-9s were already on board, as were also 30 passenger-equipped GP-9s, so the 15 RS-11s affected were no longer essential for passenger service. With a pass-through steam line, however, they could be used as second units for tractive purposes only.

Thanks Statkowski for the information.

This particular RS11 at Danbury was also Penn Central #7662 which used to ply the Canal Line between Westfield and Easthampton, Mass. Somewhere I have a picture of it back when it was in decent operating shape. It was sitting in what is now Holyoke Heritage Park. Unlike Easthampton, at least there is still a railroad presence there with a 2 siding spur from the Pioneer Valley Railroad as a part of the park. At one time they ran a little excursion from Heritage Park to Holyoke Mall and back.
