Hello All,
I saw an ad for National Train Day in Jamestown, NY. Live equipment displays are mentioned including steam locomotive Viscose 6. Will the engine actually be under steam and on rails? I had heard awhile back that it may stay on a trailer as it will be in Dunkirk the next day. If the locomotive will actually operate in Jamestown, is there a time frame for it's move?
What else is planned for this train day celebration? I thought the focus of the train station had changed to the comedy museum and was surprised they were doing anything at all.
Lastly, Will there be any chances to ride behind #6 in the Western New York area this year?
thanks,
Matt

I googled "National Train Day Jamestown" and found this article:

CORRECTED DATE POSTED

http://www.observertoday.com/page/calen ... F14%2F2016" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jamestown Gateway Erie Train Station, 211-217 W. Second St. Operating layouts, historical displays, trolley car #93 restoration and refreshments in the station. Classic car show on Second Street in front of station. Live railroad equipment displays trackside: motor cars, Viscone #6 steam locomotive, WNY & PA RR locomotives and passenger cars and the Great American Train Robbery. Free admission. For details. see jamestowntrainstation.com
If I read the article right, nothing about excursions, sounds like a series of displays.

Hi Guys,

The link above goes to a "May 8, 2015" from a WRFA Radio article.

This is the Flyer the WNYRHS was sent. Not sure if Viscose #6 will operate or not.

If someone goes to either of these events be interesting to hear how they were.

From what I read, no excursions, no Amtrak involvment, just displays and a train show of some sort, and half of it packs up and moves to Dunkirk the next day.

The next trips behind #6 will be in Boyertown, PA on the Colebrookdale Railroad the next two weekends. Tickets at: https://www.dynamicticketsolutions.com/cbdrr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately there are no excursions allowed on the WNY&P out of Jamestown....wish we could do something with #6 there.
