In my Steam Powered Video maps of PA (an early version of them,
maybe they have changed), an Erie line is shown going north
from Scranton direct to Susqhehanna -- going from Scratnon
through Jessup, Tompkinsville,
Clifford, S. Gibson, Jackson, N. Jackson and finally to Susquehanna.

THis is NOT the line going north from Scranton that the Erie shared
with D&H (the one going under the Erie Southern tier at Lanesboro/Starucca viaduct)
(Jefferson line?), but one west of that.

I can't find any info on-line about this line, or any old maps
other than SPV that show it (even dotted lines on topos).

ANy ideas???

Maybe it is a typo. I've driven PA Route 92 from Susquehanna to Jackson and down to Nicholson and the mountains and grades make it hard to believe that a rail line could even go through the area.

No known railroad existed...only the line shared with the D&H via Carbondale, Forest City and Ararat and Starrucca to Jeff. Junction. Oh, there were were many plans and thoughts and ideas but only the DL&W's Cobbs Gap to Hallstead and its ca.1910 realignment and the Erie to Susquehanna (D&H operating on and then purchased ca. 1955) as outlined above, were actually built. Except for Northern Electric which more or less paralleled the DL thrug Cobb's Gap and along RT's 6 and 11 to Hop Bottom then took off to New Milford. Line you see could be Tunckannock Creek up along route 92 almost to the top of the hill at Susquehanna. But, no railroad ever built along that route.

You're best picking up the newer edition of SPV. Their 1st edition of the Northeast had some glaring errors, this apparently being one.

CHoess, do you (or anyone else out there) have a new edition
of the SPV maps. Is this mystery line gone in the new edition??
THanks, JS

Quite gone. From west to east, N-S lines in that area in the newer edition are: LV Tunkhannock-Montrose, DL&W Scranton-Clark's Summit-Nicholson-Hallstead, etc., D&H/Erie Scranton-Carbondale-Uniondale-Thompson-Jefferson Jct., and O&W Scranton-Carbondale-Uniondale-Starlight-Hancock. No sign of the mystery line.
