I don't know how this query ended up in the "Railroads in Books, Magazines, Music, TV and Movies and other Media" forum. It is being moved to the Pennsylvania Railfan Forum where it is more likely to be seen by someone who could provide a knowledgeable reply.

I did a little poking around. If you look at modern aerial photos, there is a slightly-tilted L-shaped cleared right of way from Mt. Jewett down towards Hazel Hurst. Here is one map showing it: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=41.69949,-78 ... Hurst%20PA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . I believe this to be the old R.O.W. of the Mt. Jewett and Smethport, more or less. I am not sure what it is now - perhaps a pipeline or for power lines.
I went on http://www.pennpilot.psu.edu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and looked at aerials photos from the 1937-42 era. At the corner of the "L" - where the mark is on the linked map - you can clearly see where the switchback was, even though the rails were lifted some 30 years before . Looking at the birds-eye view of maps.bing.com, http://binged.it/1iJIYkd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can still make out the switchback ROW if you know what you are looking for.
