So, what original flag railroad holds the title of having the most surviving locomotives (either in operation or on display) from its original ALCO purchases/orders?

Do MLW units count? If so, Canadian Pacific and CN would be right up there on the list... lots of C424s and M420s.

Only two LV C-420's got cut up I think? I know the 404 did... But what about doing to most of what model? Like The most C-420's left came from LVRR?

Both Roberval & Saguney M420TR's still survive. Purchased new. Only two built too!

Yeah does anyone have any exact numbers on that? Does the Cuyhoga Valley Scenic still have the BN RS-3. It lacks its prime mover correct?
I would say the EL and LV come to mind as well. For a small road a good percentage of the L&HR ''fleet'' is around.

There are 52 known surviving D&H Alcos:
http://www.joshuakblay.com/dhsurvivors.html

(several of the surviving D&H alcos are also counted in the numbers below..for example, 8 of the 9 surviving D&H C420's are the same units as the 8 surviving LV C420's)

15 known surviving LV Alcos:
http://www.frontiernet.net/~scottychaos ... tives.html

11 from the Erie
10 from DL&W
13 from EL

19 from the New York Central,
18 from the PRR
5 from New Haven
3 from Penn Central
http://gold.mylargescale.com/Scottychao ... /index.htm

so the D&H is far and away the "winner"!
which isnt surprising..

The NYC and PRR once had massive Alco fleets..but their low survivor numbers today can be attributed mostly to Conrail..
