MNR and LIRR comm positions

It seems like it's a good time to be in the communications field.

Metro north still has the Radio Maintainer position open for applications and LIRR has re-posted the assistant signalman comm systems and radio for the third time.

MNR has about 3-4 years of movement left while the vets retire and the new guys role in. After that it will be locked down.

I have been seeing job postings for "radio maintainer" since late 2015. An inside source can only confirm one hire (Harmon Station?) since. Anyone have any info as to why they keep posting the job? Increase in staffing? Retirements pending??
