Um, yeah, whoever allowed that person to do that amount of overtime gets demoted down to train operator... and the schedule gets reverted to what they have + some extras on the board.

Does the union contract require overtime be distributed fairly, or does it go by seniority?

Note that I only know MTA Maryland's union Collective Bargaining Agreements. Those usually went by seniority for pick.

However, in this case, I think the overtime became mandatory... and that spells trouble no matter what. MTA Maryland's police force was on mandatory overtime when I left, and you could hear it in the officer's voices whenever I talked to them on their tracking systems I was coding up at the time.
