Position Title: Track Inspection Systems Operator / Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Track Inspection Systems Operator / Analyst with proven working experience in validating data collected by track measuring and inspection systems using strip charts and other similar indicators. The successful candidate must be comfortable in performing a wide range of support activities as directed by the Survey Director, and the Assistant Survey Director aimed at improving the overall performance and achieve the best results for our customer. Previous experience on the ATIP Program highly desired. The Track Inspection Systems Operator / Analysts will be required to perform, but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

Validate data collected by track measuring and inspection systems using strip charts and other indicators.

Identify and report railway defects to the Survey Director, and/or the Assistant Survey Director and customers.

Perform field service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair (user level) of equipment on railway vehicles.

Field calibration and testing of track inspection systems on railway vehicles. This includes Class 3b infrared LASERs and high-speed cameras.

Be willing to travel independently with test car when in autonomous mode, and to work independently when required.

Be part of an ever-improving safety culture aboard the test car, maintaining and looking for ways to improve track-safety awareness and worker safety.

Perform daily inspections on safety and measuring equipment aboard the test car.

Maintain the test cars’ cleanliness daily.

Assist in troubleshooting test car systems, including direct communication with support personnel and technicians.

Perform mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting when required. This will require working outdoors under the test car, on uneven terrain, in less-than-ideal climate conditions often daily.

Update and submit any required reporting forms on the test car and to the company office. This includes but is not limited to expense reporting and time sheets.

Participate in all required training, including but not limited to in-classroom training required by the company and online safety training.

Manage company expenses in an efficient manner, including booking own hotel and/or rental car, planning travel and booking flights.

Qualifications/Education:

The ideal candidate must hold an associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering Technology or similar STEM field is preferred. Equivalent technical training is acceptable.

Prior experience in the railway industry, preferably in the track inspection sector, is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal skills.

Ability to travel for extended periods more than 75% of the time (an equivalent of 3 weeks traveling on the diagnostic vehicle, and 1 week working from home with a reduced time of 20-hour week while maintaining state of readiness for potential call-out for program support)

A strong aptitude for computer operations.

Basic troubleshooting skills and a keen interest in solving technical issues.

Ability to work as part of a small team and independently when needed.



Requirements:

Ability to obtain and keep a Department of Transportation security clearance.

Travel domestic and possibly internationally (i.e., either have or be able to obtain a U.S. passport).
