I am working on several locomotives for a new layout. They are MEC gp38 series. When did MEC start mounting plows to the forward end of their locomotives. Most of the pictures into the late 70's do not show plows. Was it after being bought by Guilford that the plows were added? Where they only added to certain numbers?
All U18Bs had plows on the front. 1 maybe 2 gp38s in harvest gold had plows as well as all the u25b. Nothing else had plows. Check Railroad Picture Archives site and look at the units one by one.
