I was wondering if we could get a list of all of the MBTA main line work equipment and cars. I'll start the list with what I know:

MBTX:
1 - Difco Side Dump Car
5 - Difco Side Dump Car
12 - Difco Side Dump Car (missing road number)
18- Difco Side Dump Car
19 - Difco Side Dump Car
30 - Rail Washer (flat car and a tank car)
71 - Box Car (ex-B&M)
101 - Flat Car (ex-TTX)
902 and 904 - GP9 (ex-SEMTA, ex-Grand Trunk Western)
1411 - ex-Amtrak Baggage Car
3247 - GP40
15004 - Gondola
2746 - Double Track Snow Plow
11365 - Hopper
13378 - Gondola
13388 - Gondola
13743 - Short Bay Window Caboose
64711 - Flanger (ex-conrail)

MBA:
C-1 - Wide Vision Caboose
2740 - Double-Track Snow Plow
2742R - Snow Plow
2744R - Snow Plow

Anyone know any other pieces of equipment? (like snow plows, tank cars, those ex-amtrak baggage cars, flat cars, those side dump cars currently filled with ties, and other cars?)

Also, what was the fate of this car?

Im pretty certain that car is running around as a tool car for the MBTA work train, still in BnM blue. (That was why it was moved in the first place - to see life on the open rails instead of pretending to be a storage shed.)

Be specific if it is CR or Rail Line work equipment on the title. Just a thought.

Was this one of the cars that was once stranded in the Charlestown Navy Yard?
I think MBTA has two of those B&M blue boxcars. Anyway, if it got stranded, how did it get out?

There is a 40' B&M boxcar that has been sitting for a while right next to New Washington St. in Sommerville, I drove by it today but the paint was so worn I couldnt read the numbers.

Isn't that the one that's inside BET? It's right next to the Fitchburg line's ROW

Just to add to GP40MC1118's post.

Those cars were formally numbered:

RPCX 1434 & RPCX 1431

Prior to being purchased for the work train, they sat for the last few years and were stored up in New England Southern Railroad's yard in Concord, NH. NEGS moved them around from time to time, but as far as I know and could see during my trips up their, they were not used or even owned by NEGS.

Photo here: http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo ... y=wintrain

A quick look online shows RPCX to be: SC RAIL LEASING AMERICA, INC. D/B/A SOUTHERN ILLINOIS RAILCAR CO. [RAILCAR LIMITED]

Here are some additions to the list GP40MC1118 compiled, this should complete the roster above.
ADDITIONAL FLATCARS - MBTX 50 ex DODX
MBTX 55 ex DODX
MBTX 57 ex DODX
DODX 38132
DODX 137665
DODX 15716
The two un-numbered covered hoppers were in sand service at the old BET, one is a Maine Central car built by ACF, the other is an ex B&M PS-1.
