Here's a trivia question - have all the New England states been represented by maps on engines or rolling stock? I have W.H. Shurtleff and Portland Terminal, each with a map of Maine; North Stratford Railroad, map of NH; Central Connecticut with a map of CT worked into its logo; Northern Vermont with, you guessed it, VT; and Seaview with the map of RI. But what about Massachusetts? Did a map of Mass. ever appear as part of a logo or otherwise on an engine or piece of rolling stock? Am I overlooking something obvious?

Northern Vermont RR did not have a logo with the state of VT. The Lamoille Valley did, however.

The NECR logo under G&W control has a logo with the states it passes through, including Mass. See here (logo in upper right corner):

Any photos of the Shurtleff and PTR logos with the map? I actually didn't realize Shurtleff had their own cars, to be honest, although I do remember their presence on the Portland waterfront.

The PTM logo with image of Maine used to adorn the Rigby roundhouse:

It was replaced with a Springfield Terminal sign at some point in the mid or late '80s. I always wondered what happened to the PTM sign. Hopefully it ended up in the hands of someone who appreciated it!

The Shurtleff cars are shown on the Highball Graphics site:

Thanks for everyone chiming in on this admittedly arcane topic.

PS: Did I mention that I said Northern Vermont instead of Vermont Northern? The latter is the one with the map of Vermont.
