Can't even hear the EMD over the Alco idling next to it! No concrete plans, but the other side of the engine got tagged during its trip through Kearny, so we'll have to do something to it.
Now whats the situation with the 21 and 79?

Not much to show, but this a photo of it idling.

Ahhhh, thank you............ Nice to just see it there, running and (almost) ready for action. It's a good looking engine. Someday when it's painted and shined it's going to look great. Congrats!

Hi Rudy
Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but are you still planning to repaint the 3573? Your artwork for it looks really sharp.
Cheers

21 is next in line into the shop once they're done tinkering with 23. 79 is after 21. Right now, the plan is to have all three run, but if for some reason that's not possible, 79 will likely be the odd man out.

Thanks! Not sure exactly what the plan is, still waiting for a truck rebuild before a paint job....

Aw man. From an outside railfan perspective 79 is my favorite of the three, Ive always liked high hood GP9s, yet thats just personal taste. 79 should get least priority to run since 23 and 21 are identical.

It's also the only one that has never been rebuilt since the 1950s. 23 and 21 were rebuilt in 1980 and 1979, respectively. They have all new electronics, 645 power assemblies, etc.

No updates on the new Geeps, unfortunately. As of last week, SW1200 #563 is back in service. Now that that's out of the shop, we'll see what happens next.
