I put together a short article about the jet-powered M-497 experiment in the July 2016 issue of Railfan & Railroad. Designed and operated by Don Wetzel, and constructed at Collinwood Shops, an American rail speed record of 183.6 m.p.h. was set on July 23, 1966, near Bryan, Ohio. You can order copies of the July issue direct from White River Productions, or see your local dealer.
