The latest issue of Diesel Era says that the five LS&I U23Cs have been scrapped. Can anyone confirm this and/or give the when and where?

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes, Ed Bowers rocks Pine Bluff, AR. Saw the photos of #2300 being delivered to the museum on Trainorders.com. The LS&I 2300 was the first U23C built.

The shortline Wisconsin & Michigan used two LS&I U23C
between 1992 and 1995 (the year of abadonment), maybe these SOU2645 was thinking of.

Just confirming the U23C at the Arkansas Railroad Museum in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The locomotive is stored outside and bears reporting marks VLIX 2300. It is on loan to the Museum at this time. Information from the Cotton Belt Star a publication of the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society.

They are all in Cascade Green except for a few out of service units on the shop tracks.

They also have some ex-Detroit Edison units for parts.

I did a walk around on the VLIX 2300 yesterday at the Arkansas Railroad Museum. She is a little rough around the edges, but not in bad shape for a 38 year old Uboat.
