I just made my first trip to Kent and am having a hard time figuring out how things worked and what was there when it was a crew change point. I understand, perhaps, that crews changed in the vicinity of Crain Ave. ? The yard then extended east from there towards Brady Lake ?
Was there a yard office, crew office or anysuch ? How did a crew change with a eastbound train without blocking the crossing down by the depot ?
Are the buildings west of the depot old A&GW structures and was this a yard area also ?
When did crews begin bypassing Kent with Inter-Divisional Runs ? Were any locals based out of there or did a turn operate out of Leavittsburg ?
I am interested in knowledge, stories and operational info. How did WLE (NKP) fit in - just went over and the connector track installed after EL days ? How long did CR use this as a main or secondary main ?
Thanks.
