Is there a book or on-line source for Baldwin's early work? A group of us are trying to track down a locomotive from circa eighteen-thirty-eight. Thanks.

Yes, but they might be hard to find. The LOCOMOTIVES that BALDWIN built. By Fred Westing, 1966, Superior Publishing Company, Seattle, Washington. Library of Congress Card Number 68-25422. It includes a reproduction of the old Baldwin History, long out of print. Also reproduction of Baldwin Locomotive Works, Illustrated Catalogue of Locomotives, from 1881 = Burnham, Parry, Williams & Co. Published by Howell-North Books, 1050 Parker Street, Berkeley, 10, CA in 1960. Good luck
