Despite the supposed car shortage, 371 had four cars instead of its usual three tonight. 258, which had appeared with 201, 202, and 9001 on some runs last week, was the 4th car. The 3rd one was ex-Airport Silverliner III 236. As usual, only the 1st and 2nd cars were open to passengers.

Cars 398-400 are spending the night in Doylestown tonight together. Makeup N-S is married pair 399-398 and single car 400. :-)

Yesterday, R5 Paoli/Thorndale Line Train 522 had four trains (I think)
453, 454, 455, 456.
I don't recall if it was 454, 453, 455, 456 or 453, 454, 455, 456.
But I thought it was interesting to see four succeeding number of cars in a same train.

I apologize if it was a typical one.

522 being a northbound train, the odd-numbered cars would normally be on the "ex-Reading" end of the train, that is, facing toward Center City on the Thorndale side. Thus you were right the first time... it would have been a "straight flush" train: 453-454, 455-456. And that does not happen often either.

I usually pick out patterns, and I have seen quite a few "conveniently" numbered consists as of lately.

371 was led by an ex-Airport Silverliner III today. It passed 386 somewhere between Trevose and Somerton. 386 was also lead by an ex-Airport Silverliner III. The two cars were 235 and 237, but now I don't recall which was which.

Both trains had an ex-Reading Silverliner II as the third of three cars - 9012 on one, and 9013 on the other. Silverliner III 221 was the middle car on 371. An ex-Pennsy Silverliner II (not 269 or any of the other interesting ones) was the middle car on 386.

(It is not usually possible to observe from one train the car numbers on a passing train. I was not on 371 at the time. I had taken the Comet cars West Trenton express, 6374, from Center City to Somerton, with the intention of taking 371 back to Bethayres. Since the express was running a little late, I didn't want to chance the 7-minute layover in Trevose, where I'd have to wait for the long express train to clear the station before I could cross the tracks on foot. So I settled for the longer wait at Somerton on a springlike late afternoon. As a bonus, I got to watch 386 come through.)

Did you possibly mean 235 or 239?
Car 237 has been out of service at Overbrook with no main transformer for over a year now and is actually on the list of 7 cars slated to be cut apart at Roberts Yard when that work resumes after they finish with 214...

On both trains, it was definitely an ex-Airport Silverliner III with the red, blue, and silver paint job covering up the old yellow paint job on the front and back of the outside of the cars. And the one on 371 had the plush 2x2 seating with the extra luggage racks. I don't think 239 is an ex-Airport Silverliner III. So the cars were 235 and one other, but not 232, 234, or 237. Possibly, it was 231, because I think it was an odd-numbered car. I'm not usually this bad in memorizing car numbers, so I don't know what got into me yesterday.

232 through 239 are the ex-Airport Silverliner III's :)

Funny you should mention that. 228 was one of the morning Dinky cars on Monday. I saw it passing a Silverliner IV on the other Cynwyd Car run going through Zoo.
