With the current news about hurricane Florence, it made me remember the floods we had here in upstate NY from hurricane Agnes, and all the damage it caused to the NY Central, Lehigh Valley, and the Erie Lackawanna, causing the final bankruptcy to at least one of them. Back in the mid 50's, hurricane Dianne washed-out the Lackawanna mainline, making it impassible for several weeks, and severely damaging the companies financial situation.

I'm sure there were other regional hurricane damage problems, so post them if you have them.
