According to their web sight, Tri-Rail will shut down at the end of operation
on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 due to the possibility of hurricane
Francis and the need to secure the crossings etc.
Broward County bus service is also to be shut down starting Thursday,
September 2, 2004.

According to a recorded announcement, Tri-Rail does not anticipate a
restoration of service before Wednesday, September 8, 2004. More
problems in Palm Beach County than here in Broward County.

I called Tri-Rail today (Tuesday, Sept. 7th at 7:00PM, their automated
information stated that they would resume limited weekday schedule
between Miami Airport Station and Deerfield Beach. They said there are
still signal outages in Palm Beach County which will prevent the resumption of service north of Deerfield Beach for the time being.
All rides are free thru Sunday, September 12th, here's your chance to
ride a train for free.
Rails still looked rusty a little while ago.

Wednesday, evening - patrol trains operating or maybe an equipment
move. Also observed a northbound CSX diesel pulling a string of cars
northbound again probably a patrol train to clear the rust from the rails
which have not been used in several days.
Suspect that the damage north of Deerfield Beach is worse than first
thought.

Starting Friday, September 10th, Tri-Rail will be operating its weekday
schedule between West Palm Beach and Miami Airport stations.
Mangonia Park is still without service, probably another day or two before
that opens up.
