I am trying to findout the heritage of 2 CSX gp38-2s, CSX #2723 former CR #8068, and CSX 2723 former CR #8059. Both were built in 1973 so I suspect they are former PC. But I would like to confirm their past. CSX 2726
is still in CR blue. Both are currently assigned to Rochester, NY, Goodman St. Yard for local power and tied together back to back. Thankyou for any help.

A little more about these engines. When they were new on the Penn
Central they were mostly used in New England. I had engines in this
group both out of Oak Point on the job that went to Selkirk by the way of
Devon and Danbury and later on the River Line on a train that came out
of Providence (before Providence and Worcester) and ran via Framingham
and Springfield to the by-pass at CP-132, around the by-pass (skipping
Selkirk entirely) and down the River Line generally with a solid Potomac
Yard train.
Not the best riding engine in the world but wonderfully reliable and nice
and warm in the cold weather.

On the money Noel, I find that these units seem be alot better pullers, with alot less problems than the units purchased later by Conrail.
