Hanford Rail Operations

Sitting around bored and found a couple youtubes about plutonium production at Hanford, WA. They used a couple of shielded locos and cars to move spent fuel from the B reactor to the "Queen Mary" processing plants. Neat stuff, but a long lasting legacy. They have put on display two locos and two spent fuel cars.

I'm wondering about the huge headlights. In one video it appears to be a Mars light.

Could have been an ex-SP loco

Definitely not ex-SP as both of the Alcos were purchased brand new. From the Big Bend Railroad History website, here's the heritage of the two Alcos, plus a EMD GP7 that belongs to the Washington State Railroad Museum and is currently in storage somewhere in the area:
