Hi gang,

I'll be in the Greenup/Effingham/Cumberland county area in April, scoping out some quiet retirement spots. Any recommendations on places to see the IC/CSX action in the area?

TIA!

Try the IC/CSX crossing in Effingham, allways a good spot

The Amtrak station is at the crossing. It's not staffed by Amtrak, but it's open for a while before and after all six scheduled train departures, so you get periodic access to very nice bathrooms.

I traveled north from there two weeks ago and saw part of a triple meet; my northbound Saluki met a southbound and overtook a northbound, so someone just standing on the platform would have seen all three trains go by pretty slowly.
