GP40-MC Overhaul

They're restricted to the North Side because they aren't compatible with traction interlock, which is why you don't see any unrebuilt F40s south either. This is also why the remaining 1500 control cars were sent north.

1116 is almost done. Just some final patch work to be done. For those who care, it's the original (Good) horn and E-bell with LEDs.

1122 is behind it in the shop process. That still has months of work ahead.

When 1116 is done, expect 1119 to go in for rebuild.

1117 & 1129 are possible candidates as well.

Down in Rochester: 1125 is beginning to be painted (As of last week)

1138 and 904 are being prepped for rebuild in Rochester.

1118 and 1132 will be the last for GP40MCs rebuilt in Rochester, their condition is very poor after being in storage for 7 years. Those will require a lot of work.

Remember, Rochester is still not at full working capacity still and that was the main factor in the delay of 1137

Still no word on why 1137 is just sitting in readville doing nothing. Is 1122 completed the in house rebuild or still being worked on? On the roster, it’s not listed as in shop but 1116 is.

1137 is waiting on parts for the signaling system.

1122 is complete. it was testing the other week.

Remind me what facilities they have in Rochester.

Lovingly referred to as "Area 52", its a repair facility just south of the SEMASS Plant. I think its a Mass DOT owned facility. I believe they partner with Drummac, Inc. They do warranty repairs, acceptance tests, rebuilding, etc.

Looks like the parts came in. 1137 out tomorrow for Cab Signal tests...

What are the plans for 904? Is it going to be rebuilt to 3C specs? A 1960s geep would probably look funny with the lightning stripe paint scheme, an e-bell, and a raised letter K5LA.

1137 had mechanical issues yesterday, so it did not test. They substituted the 1052 instead.

1137 will try again tomorrow...
