I think the unit in your photo is a GP35. (I couldn't tell by looking: EMD units from the 1963-1989 period all look very similar. But the Roster in DPA-LTA "Official Locomotive Rosters and News" (Kerr) has the BNSF 2500 through 26-something-something listed as GP35.)
