A general discussion about shortlines, industrials, and military railroads

This seems a bit obvious but maybe it will help ONE person out there somewhere.

We all know the economy is in the tank. We hear daily about large layoffs and plant closings. Nobody can say for sure just how much worse things will get. But naturally it will affect rail customers, some branch lines, and some entire railroads. It's like when a pack of lions approaches a herd of zebras - you KNOW some of them just are not gonna make it.

With that in mind, take the time to take those photos and videos of the stuff that "always will be there". Go visit that branch line that UP or CSX serves twice a week. Don't wait to visit the local mom and pop short line.

I'm not thinking of any place in particular. But over the years there were several places I always figured to check out some day but didn't. The economy will take its toll, and unfortunately some railroad customers, and some railroad companies, will not be around when things finally come back. Get 'em now!
