Georgia Southern has supposedly made it's last run to Metter; scrap metal will be trucked to Statesboro and transloaded

Doesn't seem like that makes a lot of sense for the scrap yard, and I can't imagine the tariff difference would be that large. Pity, though, if it does happen. I was there last October; they seemed like they were just as busy as always, switching often up and down the line, just not in Metter all that often.

I'm still surprised the WalMart DC doesn't get service. Not from the port, but from the DC out to the NS main line.

Metter has been living in fear that they'll lose service; this won't help.

I wasn't able to find any abandonment proceedings with the STB, so there's that. Is there any other potential business in Metter? Or south of Tillman and Deal?

Pioneer was taken over by Patriot Rail, not sure how that will affect business going forward. Not much info on Patriot's website.
