Can anyone provide some info on where the various industries served by the LV in Geneva were located relative to their yard or the downtown depot? From the industry info on the LV Railroad Modeler’s site, it appears that the LV still served several industries in Geneva during the early 70s, including Agway, E.E. Miller Inc. (anyone know what that was?), Geneva Foundry, and National Biscuit Co. Does the Nabisco structure still exist (possibly under another company name?)?

I spent some time during the late 60s and early 70s when I lived north of Ithaca observing switching operations at the Geneva yard, but unfortunately didn’t have any interest at that time in investigating the various industries.

Happy Holidays!

In the 1950s the Lehigh Valley RR served American Can and a Market Basket warehouse complex via a spur that came off the MT near the passenger depot. This crossed Geneseee Street and then turned north to the warehouse complex. There was another spur referred to as the "tobaggan" that left the MT just west of GY Tower and proceded west to the freight house.
Customers in the late 1960s and into the 1970s were NYSG&E which took telephone poles and National Biscuit (Milk Bone Dog Biscuits).
The New York State Agricultural Experiment Station on Pre-emption Road received coal via the Naples Branch at one time.
The Lehigh Valley Geneva yard was torn up back in the 1980s. The old LVRR/NYC exchange track and yard lead is still in place. This is utilized by FLGR as a connection to the old LV MT which remains extant to the former Seneca Army Depot. All other LVRR trackage in Geneva has been removed. The freight house remains, serving as a retail concern.

Just for kicks, go out to Genesee St. where the LV main crossed on a bridge - just north of the bridge the line to the can plant crossed Genesee. Look west towards the main and check out the grade they had to deal with!

There are actually still tracks in place inside the warehouse complex there - you can see the railheads poking through the pavement in several places. The Market Basket warehouse was torn down about 3 years ago, and they partially demoliched a building across the street too.

The Foundry was just demolished a couple of months ago, but I'm not sure how that could have been served by the LV, as it was located along the NYC Auburn line. (?)

If you go down into the NYSEG plant, there's still tracks in place inside the fenced in transformer area also.
