Hi. Did the 44 ton switcher have air brakes? Or was it not nesessary because it was mostly used for light duty? Thanks.

I would assume it does cause the 35 Ton GE I use at work has air brakes. Joe G.

14EL was the standard setup, although there may have been exceptions. Remember, the 44T was marketed as a common carrier switcher. Some of the industrial units were equipped with just straight air and no automatic air; it all depended on what the original buyer specified.
