How often does CSX service the Franklin to Milford line? Is it an overnight Walpole job?

Given that Ardagh Glass has just closed its Milford manufacturing facility around the end of March, there may not be a customer for CSX to service in Milford anymore.

So two customers remain beyond Forge Park. Is there anything between Walpole and Forge Park? It'd probably help to get this section transferred over to the G&U sooner rather than later.

Is that really a possibility or just wishful thinking? The transfer of this line to the G&U, that is. Any idea what parts of the line would go to the G&U?

That's a good question.

If I remember correctly, Franklin Paint would ship they tank OUT once a year. The annual move was to preserve the switch.

BTW, the stub of the old G&U turnout off the MBTA Milford branch near S Cedar St in Milford was removed some time over the past few months. Seems strange to see ties and stone installed on a track that rarely sees any activity (annual FRA inspections?). Guess this means MBTA isn't abandoning the moribund line any time soon.

As far as I can tell, as of December, the closest any G&U track currently gets to the MBTA track at Milford is the short isolated stretch G&U built a few years back from the crossing at Main St Milford behind Pinz bowling to Vernon St at the cemetery. It does look as if some vegetation had been cut back parallel to the MBTA track between S Cedar St and Depot St but, as yet, there are no piles of ties/stone/rail to build track in the area. What service is there for G&U to takeover from CSX in the Milford area?
