Pardon my lack of knowledge to where Hudson Junction is, but MQ Junction (Campbell Hall Junction) was once the junction of the Graham Line & Montgomery Branch. That's the big wye that Campbell Hall is among. If someone could specify Hudson Junction, Might be able to answer

The abandoned track that crossed the Erie Graham line (now NJT port jervis line) at Campbell has was the erie Montgomery
branch, which ran from the Erie main line at Goshen NY to the interchange with the NH at Maybrook, NY

I would like to clarify that the row to which I am referring is trackless and is located BEFORE the train reaches the present Campbell Hall station. Is the consensus that this is still the old Montgomery branch?

Yup. I should have abandoned ROW, instead of track.

If you're traveling West crossing over the abandoned ROW right before Hudson Junction, you're crossing the (northern) abandoned section of the Lehigh and Hudson River Railway. This section, North of Sarah Wells Trail, was taken out of service in the mid 1990's, after completion of the Hudson Junction interchange between the Hudson Secondary (ex L&HR) and the ex-Erie Graham Line.

Before Hudson Junction was built, Eastbound NYS&W trains used to leave the Graham Line at Campbell Hall, head north on the ex-Erie Montgomery branch to Maybrook, where the power was run to the opposite end of the train, then south down the Hudson Secondary to their own trackage south of the Pelton Road division post in Warwick.

Upon completion of Hudson Junction, the Hudson Secondary between the Graham Line and Maybrook was rendered obsolete, and removed by NS.

Is that the same line that crosses Craigville road right before Route 94?

Yes, this is the Hudson Secondary, Owned by Norfollk Southern, currently leased and operated by the Middletown & New Jersey Railroad. NYS&W has trackage rights on the Hudson Secondary from the division post in Warwick, NY to Hudson Junction.

Also note that once Hudson Junction was installed, the original L&HR line north to Maybrook Yard was abandoned and removed within a year or two of completion. This was still while under Conrail ownership, long before NS gained control.

Now west of Campbell Hall the line also crosses over the abandoned right of way of the NYO&W. It too is clearly visible.

I knew the O&W would somehow work its way into this thread.

I still cringe every time I see references to 'Hudson Junction'. It's the NEW Hudson junction, so named when the new connection to the Graham Line was built.

The original (and for me, the real) Hudson Junction on the L&HR dates to 1889 when the Orange County Railroad was built to extend the old Warwick Valley Railroad from a connection near Greycourt to Maybrook for the opening of the new Poughkeepsie Bridge. HJ still exists, about three quarters of a mile south of where the former L&HR passes over the former Erie mainline at Greycourt (now the heritage trail).

(Rant mode off... :-)

Remember also that the Montgomery Branch did not end at the Graham Line and MQ Tower, but continued south along the alignment of what's now the Campbell Hall Station access road and beyond, to the Old Main at Goshen. This was also the route of Lehigh & New England's trackage-rights access to Maybrook Yard.

Here's a quick overview of rail facilities in the area:
