Any former EL workers out there from the Buffalo, NY area? I'm trying to learn more about the locomotives that were in use between 1960 and 1994, and about the job responsibilities of the EL engineers.

Thanks,
John

Welcome to the forums!

Not sure how much you're up on EL history, but The Erie Lackawanna was only in existence between 1960 and 1976. I'm
not a railroad employee, but I can tell you there were numerous locomotives over the years. Below is a link to the EL
locomotive roster by the class of locomotive and the 6 builders. ALCO, EMD, GE, Baldwin, Fairbanks-Morse and Lima.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot, Charlie! That's a very helpful chart you made. I appreciate your help.

Does anyone happen to have photos of the interior of the cab of any of the EL locomotives?

Also, would the switchers have been used throughout the EL system or were they generally assigned to specific yards, e.g., the Bison Yard?

Thanks again!

You are welcome, but I cannot take credit for the site..........I just searched for the info. Many switcher engines
worked in areas for long periods of time, but at times were switched out for periodic inspections or some other
various reasons. I can't help much further than that, but perhaps others can fill in some of the gaps.
